New to this blog? Here’s a bit of info to help you get the most out of it.
I’ve been writing here about Ethiopian adoption since February 2006. Since I add something new every day, there’s a lot here. Thankfully there are some very helpful ‘Category’ headings in the right hand sidebar.
Here you’ll find a list of general topics that I most often write about. Clicking on any of those words will pull up all the posts that I have written about that topic.
New readers might enjoy:
‘Getting Started’ – a primer on paperwork involved and steps to take in adopting from Ethiopia.
‘Food/Recipes’- this category will get you up to speed on Ethiopian cookin’
‘Hair’ is a fun category that will hopefully help people start to get a handle on Black hair issues. Pictures of little girls’ styles included. Soon I hope to expand this category to include boys hair.
‘Transracial’- discusses the issues families face when parents and kids don’t ‘match.’
‘Money Issues’ talks about the financial end of adoption, including how the heck my hubby and I afforded to adopt internationally 4 separate times.
Pleas note the ‘RSS feed’ buttons down low in the righthand sidebar. You can click on these to ’subscribe’ to my blog via Bloglines or another feed reader. Services like Bloglines notify you when I have written something new, so you don’t miss anything. Also don’t miss the handy ‘Search’ feature in the siderbar if you are looking for info on a particular topic.
Please let me know if you’d like information about any topics I haven’t yet covered. I love hearing people’s opinions, whether they agree with me or not. So don’t be afraid to chime in, either by commenting directly on a post, or by emailing me. You can email me privately at: adoptethiopiablog@ at adoptionmail dot com
I hope you enjoy visiting here! Come back soon.

Owlhaven,
I love reading your blog and have benefitted from some of the advice that you share. I was wondering if you have any experience with adjustment of older children from Ethiopia, as I am researching for an adoption in the future. We brought home our son in April of 06, he is 5 and has adjusted great, but I have concerns with how a 12 yr old would adjust. Thanks for your help.
