Blue Tops Restaurant
Location: North of the centre of Addis Ababa, on the Entoto Road near Amist kilo not far from US Embassy.
Type of food: Italian, American, Ethiopian
Other notes: Clean western-style restaurant, excellent ice cream, fairly high priced.
5 stars for Fin Fin!! We ate there 4 of 10 days and had a favorite waitress.
It will be our first stop…(after seeing Teddy at Merry Fam for macchiotos) in December when we return to Addis.
Our favorite is “Lucy’s”, right next to the National Museum. Tasty local cousine (as well as some “international” fare) & and relaxing, welcoming atmosphere at a bargain price. Across the street from Lucy’s, slightly southwards, is a great little pizza place (”Italia” something). A little more upscale but still very reasonably priced and wonderfully pampering is “Cottage” on Ras Desta Damtew, just south of Yohanis St. All three restaurants are very clean, and we frequented them several times during a two week stay in August 2008.
