Good Things Happening In Ethiopia * PLUS* Coloring Book Winners *

Reading back over some former posts I realize that I have fallen into a common trap that we in the developed world tend to do sometimes. I have talked to much about Ethiopia’s problems. The famines, the draughts and the government issues.

This week I have heard some really positive stories going on in Ethiopia and I am happy to share them all with you!

First up, the educational system in Ethiopia is getting a really neat opportunity to work with Microsoft’s Cloud system with over 250,000 laptops. I will not pretend to understand all the technology but from what I read this new system reduces the need for most hardware and software and allows teachers to download lessons and keep records more easily than ever.

Another win for Ethiopia: Ethiopian Airlines has won the 2009 African Airline of the year by the African Business and the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC). Ethiopian Airlines not only made money last year they have ordered more planes and continue to grow. Ethiopian Airlines has been around since 1946 and flies to 34 cities in Africa and 55 places worldwide. Personally we flew Ethiopian Airlines last year and had a great experience. The flight attendants were very helpful with all the adoptive families on board and even complemented me on my girl’s hair!

Last, but not least I was elated to find the following website: GoodNewsEthiopia.com

This is a blog-style site that talks about uplifting and good news about Ethiopia! Yeah! I have bookmarked this site and plan to check it out weekly. What a great way to find out good news to share with my family.
