I was sent a copy of this rhyming alphabet book to review. I enjoyed paging through the lovely pictures, and my little girls enjoyed looking at this book with me too. Each picture was taken in Ethiopia and highlights an aspect of Ethiopian culture. It is a perfect introduction for someone learning about Ethiopia for the first time, and features food, clothing, and historical sites among other things.

The book was written by Lori Prodan and Keith Holmes. The authors of this book lived in Awassa, Ethiopia for two years as part of a Voluntary Service Overseas program. Keith worked as a bridge engineer and Lori trained elementary school teachers. They now live in Vancouver, Canada.

One of the things they are committed to doing with this book is to get more books to children in Ethiopia. Through profits from sales of the book and donations from individuals and organizations, they have raised over $4,000, which they have used to send more than 500 books to Ethiopia. They are working with Voluntary Service Overseas in Ethiopia to get the books to Ethiopian children. VSO Ethiopia has over 100 volunteers working in all corners of the country, the majority of whom work with schools. The authors hope that their books will help contribute to better education of Ethiopian children.
